A couple more grabbed

Off site most of the day but before I left I managed to grab another two. A Great-spotted Woodpecker flew over the house and by the A167 as I passed the sewage works at the riverside, an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull flew over. This is an excellent spot for winter LBBGs, I have had them here in winter on a good number of occassions before.

A Reed Bunting showed well in the hedge by the house when I got back.

  1. Sounds like you're getting into the swing of it now, keep them coming !
LBB is an Xlent winter bird in the NE - had one on Wear at Fatfield last Jan, otherwise we see far more of Med & YLG up the road at Hoton... despite 1,000s of gulls on the tip.

  2. Steve,

I don't know if it's the same 1-2 birds but for the last 5-6 yrs I have had them in winter here. Obviously not impressed with your tip which I understand may well be going for some time yet.

  3. That's interesting, I'll have to have a wander back down to tick it & Mandarin !
Ive had Green Sand in that 'smelly place' for the past 3 year - any 1 of the 3 or 4 deep sided 'tanks' closest to the entrance ( don't forget a peg - it's worse than the Tip anyday !)
